I am super excited to announce that I have created a set of books titled: How Does Your Body Feel? that will support all our little children who experience big emotions, in feeling confident, calm and in control of their reactions when they are experiencing uncomfortable thoughts and feelings.
Throughout my career as a paediatric occupational therapist, I have witnessed an increase in children who experience emotional regulation challenges, and I have witnessed this to have a direct impact on their academic and functional performance in school and at home, resulting in mental health challenges. Since also becoming a mother to my two beautiful little boys, who also experience emotional regulation challenges I understand firsthand, the extent to which emotional regulation difficulties can interfere with a child’s performance in their activities of daily living and in their social skills and relationships.
As mental health and emotional regulation is a critical component to overall well – being, I believe it is therefore critical, that we equip our little children, with the skills and tools that they require to manage their emotions and reactions, so they can live their lives with more joy by being more confident and independent in everything that they do.
